They Think It's All Over....

...it is now!

So the world cup dream comes to an end and England come up short.

Realistically we should have had no expectation of them getting as far as they did, but, having got to the final, there was definitely a feeling of perhaps they could / should just have done it...

In some ways, the 2007 tournament was more enjoyable than 2003 - despite the end result. There was less predictability and some great upsets. The gap between the top teams and smaller teams seemed much less than in previous tournaments. There's talk about reducing the number of teams to 16 for 2011, I think this would ruin the tournament for the smaller teams, who showed that they could mostly at least compete.

England's games in the knockout stages were all cliffhangers and they did fantastically to re-group after the pool game against South Africa and showed some real character and guts to make it through to the final.

However, I hope that those running the game don't use this performance as an excuse to paper over the cracks and rest on their laurels for three years like they did after the 2003 final. England need to start building now for 2011, that means bringing in new players and new ideas in a timeframe which gives them a chance to build a team capable of winning the next world cup.

The Next Heavyweight Champion Of The World ?

Daniel is piling on the pounds, so far in his first three weeks he's gained 3lbs, several extra chins and a belly any self-respecting front-row would be proud of!

The midwife and health visitor have been really pleased with his progress, he's obviously eating really well and life is good for the little man at the moment.

Birth weight: 7lb 12oz
Weight at 4 days: 8lb
Weight at 2 weeks: 8lb 7oz
Weight at 3 weeks: 9lb 8oz
Weight at 4 weeks: 10lb 7oz

Water....Water....

So the initial estimates of being without water until the Wednesday were a little ambitious - it was off for 8 days.

There was plenty about though, there were bowsers on most street corners and they were giving out bottled water at supermarkets - we also made good use of both parents for showering and washing clothes and Daniel (thanks!!).

The water came back on last Tuesday, but it hasn't been drinkable until today, it will be good to get back to normal.

Isn't it ironic...

It's been raining non-stop for about two weeks, towns and villages are flooded up and down Gloucestershire, the roads are closed, the trains can't run...

And they're going to turn our water off!

The pumping and treatment works which supply Tewkesbury, Cheltenham and Gloucester is flooded and is being shut down, it could be off until Wednesday.

It's good to see that people seem to be demonstrating common sense and not panicking though - apparently the police are having to guard supermarkets in Cheltenham and Gloucester to ensure the "situation remains calm".

Luckily for us, we have about 16 litres of bottled water in the garage which has been hanging around for ages (can't remember what we bought it for) but it seems to still be in date, which is nice...

Website finally completed...

Slightly later than planned, (due mainly to a certain new arrival...), my website is set up and ready to go.

Click on the Photo Gallery link and take a look.

There are lots of new photos of Daniel and assorted other events and occasions.

I'll email out the username and password for the site. Email if you don't get it and would like access to the site.

Let me know what you think!

New Arrival!

Photo Website Approaching Completion

I've set up a webiste for sharing photos with family and friends, it's still under construction at the moment but I hope to have it complete by the end of this weekend.

You can link to it here or via the links on the blog home page. We've set up security restrictions on the site though, so only people we know can access it. We'll be sending out details once the site is fully up and running.
